Engineering Club brings engineering experiences and opportunities to the Nikola Tesla STEM Community and beyond.
Our core mission is to cultivate a passion for engineering and foster a critical thinking mindset among students within the Tesla STEM community. We also have goals to extend this impact to the broader Redmond & Eastside community.
Our GoalsSTEM Racing is a global STEM competition where teams of students manufacture and race miniature, CO2-powered Formula 1 cars. The competition emphasizes the entire engineering process, from computer-aided design (CAD) to testing, and also involves creating a team brand, marketing portfolios, and verbal presentations. While the fastest car wins, a significant portion of the scoring comes from project management and engineering excellence.
The MATE ROV Competition is an international underwater robotics challenge where students design, build, and operate Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) to complete missions based on real-world workplace scenarios. Teams apply science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills, while also developing business and project management skills through presentations and technical reports. The competition emphasizes teamwork, problem-solving, and innovation.
The High School Solar Car Challenge is an annual competition where student teams design, build, and race solar-powered vehicles. It is a project-based STEM initiative that teaches high school students about science, engineering, technology, and alternative energy by applying their knowledge to build and compete with roadworthy solar cars. This year, teams will complete a cross-country race, with a strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and problem-solving throughout the process.
The SUAS (Student Unmanned Aerial Systems) Competition is an annual event where students design, build, and demonstrate autonomous drones to complete a complex, real-world mission. The competition assesses teams on technical design, a flight readiness presentation, and a mission demonstration where the UAS performs tasks like autonomous navigation, obstacle avoidance, object detection and classification, and precision payload delivery.
